I have gotten recommendations for 5 different surgeons in my area. I am trying to narrow it down to 2 and make consultations appts with them and then decide which 1 for surgery. Would appreciate if someone could either post or email me at () if they are familiar with any of these doctors. Or if there is a better surgeon that you are aware of not on my list please let me know. I do not care about cost I just want whichever is considered the best surgeon.

Dr. Linda Dressler - Fairfax, VA
Dr. Harry Huang - Bethesda, MD
Dr. Mark Whitten - Bethesda, MD
Dr. Gerri Goodman - Baltimore, MD
Wasn't given specific surgeon name - John Hopkins Univ Wilmer Eye Institute Refractive Surgery Center

how could you forget Dr. Leonard Friedman. You can actually determine his knowledge of LASIK by looking at all of his responses to the many questions on this web site. He is very talented, and certainly very knowledgeable.
It is a good idea to narrow your list on one hand, but it is to your advantage to take the time and sit down with surgeon and discuss your surgery. Make sure that although there will be a technician participating in your exams, that you get a chance to talk with your surgeon about the surgery and your particular converns, etc. As well, if you have questions at this time, you can email Dr. Friedman via the doctor directory (he is in D.C.)

Best of luck

The only reason I didn't include him is because I hate driving into DC. But if he is the best then I'll brave the traffic.

I appreaciate Dr Trattler's confidence and I
understand your concern about the city traffic.
All of my offices are near Metro and if you give
me a call I can try and suggest which office will
be best to suit your schedule. I do all of my own
pre-op examinations. Let me know if I can help.
You can call me at 202-544=l900 or email me at

I've just been to 3 Docs in the DC Metro area. Feldman was $6K with a $4.8k discount, Butros was $4.2k cash ($4.8k - 2 year no finance) and Roberts was $2k. They all use the same technique/procedure and identical FDA approved lasers. So you tell me.

Let's not forget Dr. Whitten who has performed over 50,000 Lasik procedures. His cost is $5,500, but TLC tries to find ways to reduce your costs. They knocked it down to 5k for me since my insurance wouldn't cover anything.

Does anyone else have any comments on Dr. Mark E. Whitten?

I've heard good things about him, but he's also one of those docs that fly around to different locations so he's hard to get a hold of.
